An intergenerational portrait of women, land, and ancestral knowledge in Xochimilco.

Companion of the Setting Sun is a short documentary in post-production, rooted in the chinampero community of Xochimilco. Through intergenerational relationships between Doña Susana and young female scientists working to protect the chinampas, the film explores Indigenous knowledge, women’s leadership, and the fragile ecology of one of Mexico’s last remaining agricultural wetlands.
